Where grit meets growth, and strength becomes a lifestyle
Look, I'm not gonna feed you some fairy tale about finding my true calling or whatever. Truth is, I got tired of seeing people waste their potential in cookie-cutter gyms that treat everyone like they're on an assembly line.
Back in 2018, I'd been coaching strongman and Olympic lifting for about seven years - mostly out of warehouse spaces and borrowed gym corners. The athletes I worked with were getting results that blew traditional programs out of the water, but we needed a real home. Somewhere that didn't apologize for dropping weights or making noise.
So I maxed out my credit cards, convinced three lifting buddies to pitch in, and we found this old industrial spot on Industrial Way. Yeah, the irony wasn't lost on us. Took us three months to gut it and turn it into something functional. We installed platforms, built custom rigs, and sourced equipment that'd actually survive the beating we knew it'd take.
Here's the thing - we're not for everyone, and that's on purpose. If you're looking for rows of treadmills and a juice bar, you're in the wrong place. We built Feralith Bastion for people who want to push past their limits, not just maintain them.
Functional training isn't just a buzzword here. It's literally what we do. You'll carry, pull, press, and move things that challenge your entire body because that's how real strength works. Our strongman programs aren't watered down for the masses - they're the real deal, same methods used by competitors, just scaled to where YOU are right now.
We've got folks here who've never touched a barbell training alongside regional strongman competitors, and that's exactly how it should be. Everyone pulls their weight, everyone encourages each other, and nobody gets to coast.
"Strength isn't just physical. It's showing up when you don't feel like it, pushing through when it sucks, and helping the person next to you do the same. That's what we've built here."

No machines. No mirrors. Just equipment that works as hard as you do.
Seven years of building something different
Opened our doors in February with 250 members who believed in what we were building. Started with basic strongman equipment and a lot of determination.
Added Olympic lifting platforms and brought on two certified weightlifting coaches. Membership hit 500. Started hosting weekend strongman workshops that became legendary in Vancouver's strength community.
Yeah, that year. Went virtual for four months, kept programming alive through online coaching. When we reopened, our community came back stronger. Proved we'd built something real.
Launched our athletic performance program. Started working with semi-pro rugby players and MMA fighters. Added recovery rooms and mobility equipment because we finally understood that rest is part of training.
Hosted our first in-house strongman competition. 45 athletes, over 200 spectators. Three of our members qualified for nationals. That's when we knew we'd really made it.
Brought our coaching team up to eight specialists. Added nutrition consulting because you can't out-train a garbage diet. Started corporate wellness programs for local businesses.
Hit 850 active members. Renovated the entire facility with better ventilation, upgraded platforms, and custom-built strongman equipment. Started mentorship program pairing new lifters with experienced athletes.
We're not done. Expanded programming, brought on sports physiotherapist, planning our second annual strongman competition. Every day we're working to be better than yesterday.
